A deeper look into FuturArc Prize (FAP) 2024: Campus Tours & Events
WEDNESDAY, 20 DECEMBER 2023 – The 2024 cycle of FAP, themed Architecture for Life After … is in full swing, with a little over a month left till the submission deadline on 9 February 2024! This cycle, the theme looks at how architecture can bring hope and renewal following extreme conditions, a crucial consideration in today’s rapidly changing world.
Since the competition’s launch on 7 September 2023, our team has conducted campus tours and promotional activities at events throughout the region, introducing the competition to a broader audience and keeping in touch with recurring partners.
FuturArc was media partner at BEX Singapore on 6–8 September, where we met architects and lecturers who were interested to participate and guide their students in the competition. The next week on 13 September 2023, we also introduced FAP 2024 and BCI Interior Design Awards (IDA) 2024 at BCI Equinox Jakarta in Indonesia, which was attended by over 400 industry professionals.
On 11 October, we conducted a presentation at Universitas Udayana in Bali, Indonesia with Archify. Two days later on 13 October, presentations were held concurrently in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at Bach Khoa University and in Bandung, Indonesia at the occasion of FuturArc Exchange and Exhibitions (FEX). Those who registered for FAP received magazines and complimentary 1-year subscriptions to access FuturArc’s digital copies, accessible via the app. Another presentation was held in Vietnam at University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City on 18 October.
In Malaysia, we introduced the competition to built environment practitioners on 19 October at BCI Equinox Kuala Lumpur. On 20 October, our lndonesia and Vietnam teams presented respectively at ArchiTex Bandung and at Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The week afterwards on 25 October, we visited students at Hong Bang International University.
The month of November was a busy one for events, with 1 November kicking off with presentations at Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam and Universitas Pembangunan Jaya, Indonesia. We also presented the competition at the first FEX held in Jakarta on 3 November, concurrently with a campus tour at the Vietnamese-German University. Our campus tours at Hanoi Architectural University on 6 November and Universitas Trisakti on 8 November was met with much enthusiasm, resulting in one of our highest weekly registrations in this cycle!
Architecture students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University were introduced to FAP on 16 November; we also presented to professionals at ArchiTex Jakarta on 17 November. Offering a peek into previous winners of FAP, panels by the previous cycle’s winners were exhibited at Festival Seni Bina in Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 18–21 November. More campus tours were held at Universitas Gadjah Mada on 24 November; University of Architecture, Da Nang on 25 November; and University of Technology HCMC on 29 November.
Throughout the final month of 2023, our team has presented at Universitas Pelita Harapan on 5 December and Hue University of Sciences on 18 December, with a handful of campus tours yet to come.
