Belt and Road Summit 2024: Building on collaboration and cooperation

Brought to you by HKTDC

Belt and Road Summit is jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and the ninth edition of the Summit will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 11–12 September 2024.

Since its inception in 2016, the Summit has been gathering senior government officials and influential business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral collaborations and explore concrete partnerships. Marking the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the 2023 edition featured more than 90 heavyweight speakers and attracted close to 6,000 participants from over 70 countries and regions.

The Summit serves as a superior platform for participants to establish solid business networks for long-term business cooperation. The 2023 summit featured more than 100 exhibitors, and the Summit’s bespoke one-to-one business matching services and project pitching sessions connect project owners, investors and service providers with compatible business and investment needs to explore collaborations. Over 800 one-to-one business matching meetings were arranged, featuring over 280 investment projects in the Belt and Road region and beyond, focusing on four major areas: (1) energy, natural resources and public utilities; (2) innovation and technology; (3) urban development; and (4) transportation and logistics infrastructure.

Entering a new decade of the Belt and Road Initiative, the pursuit of multidimensional connectivity and development of an open world economy will continue to be key for the international business community to capture the many opportunities under the latest global landscape. The upcoming Summit will build on the achievement in the past years to explore areas with promising prospects arising from the Initiative, connect potential business partners along the Belt and Road and facilitate concrete partnerships, fully leveraging Hong Kong’s long-established position as an effective commercial platform for Belt and Road opportunities as well as the city’s role as both a ‘super-connector’ and a ‘super value-adder’ for global businesses.
