Malaysia awards leaders in sustainable built environment
KUALA LUMPUR, 12 July 2024 – On 2 July 2024, FuturArc was media partner for the Malaysia Green Building Council (malaysiaGBC)’s Annual Dinner and Leadership in Sustainability Awards 2024, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya.
The event brought together 320 guests representing stakeholders from across the building and construction sector, including developers, manufacturers, academics, contractors, and professionals that are working collaboratively to accelerate Malaysia’s national transformation to sustainable, equitable, and decarbonised built environments.
In the opening speech, Guest of Honour, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change announced, “The government is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and the dedication and innovation displayed by the Malaysian building industry are crucial in realising this ambitious goal.”
The event also celebrated a significant milestone for malaysiaGBC’s CarbonScore initiative, targeting the total decarbonisation of Malaysian built environments. Under the theme of A Million Better Buildings, YB Nik Nazmi officiated the presentation of CarbonScore certificates to 13 projects that are leading the way towards a zero carbon future.
