Integrated Design Application in Green Building Conference

November 6, 2016

To welcome the World Green Building Week, the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) has successfully held the Integrated Design Application in Green Building conference on 20 September 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City. The event attracted more than 160 participants, including architects, engineers, developers and building practitioners from leading companies in the local construction industry. Vietnam has just started utilising the integrated design process (IDP) in the past few years—the Vietnamese construction industry still relies on traditional procurements to deliver building projects, which often result in schedule and budget overruns. Through this event, the VGBC hoped to spread the knowledge and benefits of IDP through the sharing sessions from high-profile experts, who gave presentations on the principles and possibilities of IPD with the supplement of case studies.

Guest speakers included Melissa Merryweather, director of Green Consult-Asia; Elmultaz Elrabaa, principal and director of Healthcare, Asia, B+H Architects; Marc Snell and Hoang Duy Kien, leaders from Arup, Vietnam; Do Huu Nhat Quang, co-founder of GreenViet; and Andrew Currie, founder of OUT-2 Design and Workplace-Asia. They highlighted the requirements of an integrated process for Green building projects. With detailed examples of completed projects, they shared with the audience on how companies would able to save cost and improve project efficiency with a wellmanaged integrated briefing process.
