FuturArc Prize 2022: Young talents awarded at BCI Asia Awards (BCIAA)

As the spirit of sustainable design is nurtured from one generation to the next, one can seek a breath of fresh air by looking to the youth’s ideas for their daring imagination, fresh perspective and idealism. This was one benefit of making our annual FuturArc Prize (FAP) in the 2022 cycle a students-only design competition, open to those partaking in undergraduate-level studies and above in related fields, or recent graduates with less than two years of professional experience.

This cycle of FAP ran from 22 November 2021 to 11 March 2022, receiving hundreds of international submissions from countries such as Japan, Russia, Germany and the United States.

In April, our jury panel selected eight teams of winners and merit recipients, hailing from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore. The full list of winners was first announced through a video presented at BCIAA Philippines on 21 June.

BCIAA is an event held in various regional countries to acknowledge a nation’s top 10 developers and architecture firms in terms of project value, weighted by their efforts in advancing sustainability.

On 24 June 2022 at the Fairmont Singapore, BCIAA Singapore was held, presenting an award to the country’s sole Merit recipient.

Three teams from Indonesia received FuturArc Prize (FAP) 2022 awards on Tuesday, 23 August 2022, the 2nd Place winner and two Merits.

The 2022 cycle of FuturArc Prize (FAP) saw the awarding of its First Place solo entrant, Chai Yi Yang from Malaysia at the Mandarin Oriental.
