FuturArc Prize 2018

October 29, 2018

This cycle, FuturArc Prize, Asia’s foremost Green building design competition, invited biophilic designs that integrate natural elements and nature-like qualities into the environment, thereby creating positive feelings and experiences in users. Nature provides ecosystem services to the city, services like cleaning the air and water that are critical to our survival.

FuturArc Prize 2018 asked what is ‘nature’ when it is an integral part of a city.

What happens when architecture, streets, water, greenery and biodiversity come together in new ways, in new configurations? Each entry made a case for how an Asian city might become (like) a forest, and in the process, create a new kind of urban ecology.

The competition was held from September to December 2017, attracting both professionals and students, and culminated at the annual BCI Asia Awards ceremonies that were held from April to June across the region. Winners brought home specially designed FuturArc Prize trophies, certificates, attractive cash prizes of up to SGD44,000 and a free subscription to FuturArc magazines. The winning designs were also featured in the May–June 2018 Green Awards issue of the magazine and on www.futurarc.com.

FuturArc Prize 2018 was presented by BASF as Platinum Sponsor and Phuc Khang Corporation as Gold Sponsor, Vietnam.
