(OH HOLD) WSBE Conference 2020

Update: BEYOND 2020 ON HOLD

As the COVID-19 situation rapidly changed in Sweden, the Swedish Authorities have decided to stop all sorts of events with 500+ attendants until further notice. BEYOND 2020 is therefore put on hold.

BEYOND 2020 Organising Committee will inform about any further decision regarding the conference in the coming days, on all its communication channels.

Gothenburg, Sweden, will be hosting BEYOND 2020, the World Sustainable Built Environment (WSBE) Conference. The mission of this large event is to engage the global building sector and set up a roadmap of actions as a guide on how to best contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference main theme is Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). It embraces a global perspective that reaches across academia as well as private and public sectors, working together to develop concrete solutions and achievable implementation plans. These solutions will incorporate research, policy, finance, education, and innovative thinking, in order to create the resilient and sustainable built environments of tomorrow.

Key questions

  • How can the building sector contribute towards the creation of Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG11) of the future?
  • What other UN SDGs (see below) should play a role in the pursuit of SDG11 from the built environment perspective?
  • How does the role and importance of the UN SDGs (relevant for the built environment) differ in various parts of the world?
  • What challenges and opportunities result for the building sector from implementing the UN SDGs?
