BEA FINANCIAL TOWER

Developed as Shanghai's new central business district, Pudong, with its everchanging skyline, is often seen as the city's commercial symbol. As a result, any new developments have to respond not only to market demand but also contribute to the city's visual and spatial dynamism.

The BEA Financial Tower development, designed by TFP Farrells Limited, is a Grade A office building situated in the Lujiazui commercial district of Pudong. Located next to Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center beside the Yangpu river, the 180-metre tall Tower is visible along the Pudong skyline directly from the Bund, and provides Grade A office space with an environmentally sensitive design approach. The building's footprint responds to the boundary requirements by breaking down the built volumes programmatically into two wedge-shaped entities: the tower block and the low-rise building. A glazed atrium separates the tower from the low-rise building, and the atrium and the low-rise building are staggered volumetrically away from the tower's north-western façade. The development consists of three underground levels, a 40-storey tower and a five-floor podium structure, which is dedicated to restaurants, public facilities and support services.
